The Ministry of Education of Jujuy took part in the seminar “The challenge of school absenteeism: contributions from nominal data for school management,” held as part of the Federal Network for Educational Evaluation on December 2 and 3 in Buenos Aires. The event began at Palacio Sarmiento, with further activities at the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) auditorium.
The seminar brought together specialists, technical teams, and jurisdictional representatives to discuss absenteeism in secondary schools. The discussions focused on how new management systems that provide daily and nominal attendance information can help analyze and guide educational decisions.
Jujuy was invited to join the panel “Challenges in addressing school absenteeism. Jurisdictional experiences,” alongside representatives from Córdoba, Mendoza, and Buenos Aires City. Magdalena Benvenuto, national director of Learning and Teaching Evaluation, moderated the session.
Natalia GarcĆa Goyena, secretary of Strategic Planning for Jujuy’s education ministry, said: “The invitation to the province is a recognition of the sustained work by jurisdictional teams and the commitment of educational institutions, which achieved high percentages of nominal registration of attendance and absences at the secondary level within the Integrated System of Digital Educational Information (SINIDEāSGE).” She added that this ongoing effort has helped build reliable and timely information essential for monitoring student progress.
Marcela GĆ”mez, director of Planning, Information and Educational Evaluation for Jujuy’s ministry, commented: “Participation allowed us to share our provincial experience and show how our area collaborates with different departments related to tackling absenteeism at the secondary level. The goal is to strengthen institutional strategies and promote actions aimed at reducing absenteeism rates in provincial schools.”
