The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Apr. 1 that progress has been made in the investigation of a homicide that took place in El Talar on March 28.

According to officials, during a hearing, charges were brought against F. I. A., age 31, as the alleged perpetrator of simple homicide under Article 79 of the Penal Code. The court ordered preventive detention for ninety days at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The case is led by Dr. Ernesto Lian Resúa, head prosecutor at Prosecutor’s Office No. 3 in San Pedro de Jujuy, based in Libertador General San Martín.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate that the victim, identified as R. C. P., age 57, died from hypovolemic shock caused by a cardiac perforation consistent with stab wounds.

Authorities said the incident occurred Friday night at a property located in Barrio Centro where a bakery operated. The body of the owner was found there with multiple injuries.

Investigators from Criminalistics and police officers seized items relevant to the case during their work at the scene, including what is believed to be the weapon used in the attack. The accused had been under investigation as a suspect and turned himself in voluntarily hours later at Police Station No. 43°, after which he was placed under judicial custody.
