Mario Fiad, the first vice president of the Legislature of Jujuy, said on April 5 that the national government has shown a disregard for public health by failing to provide flu vaccines in health centers across the country. Fiad said this situation is a result of what he described as a severe cost-cutting policy.

Fiad argued that these measures have left vulnerable groups such as retirees, children, and chronic patients without necessary protection. He said, “The most alarming sign of this neglect is the lack of flu vaccines in health centers across the country.”

He attributed this to what he called an unprecedented act of political irresponsibility by the current administration. “Unfortunately, libertarians decided that health is an expendable expense,” Fiad said.

Fiad also stated that under current policies, healthcare has ceased to be a management priority and has become just another line item to be eliminated for budgetary reasons. He added, “This dynamic makes clear LLA’s true vision: they see health as a profitable business and not as a human right.”

He concluded by connecting his criticisms to local situations in Jujuy involving business interests closely tied to those in power. According to Fiad, “In the midst of this clash of interests are retirees, children and chronic patients who are true victims.”
