Marixa Balli shared on March 27 a personal account about her inability to become a mother, which she said was the result of a tragic accident that changed her life. In a recent interview, Balli spoke about the car accident in 2000 that took the life of her partner Mariano Fischer and left her with serious injuries. She explained, “No pude quedar embarazada porque yo estaba destrozada,” describing how the physical consequences of the incident prevented her from conceiving.
Balli addressed the emotional pain she felt over not being able to fulfill this dream. “El hecho de no poder quedar embarazada también me dolió mucho, era mi gran sueño,” she said, highlighting how deeply this affected her.
The recovery process was long and difficult for Balli. She underwent years of medical treatment and psychological therapy to overcome both physical and emotional trauma. According to Balli, “No podÃa sacarme el frÃo del cuerpo. Solo me pudo tratar un especialista en este tipo de accidentes traumáticos. Me ayudó con mucho trabajo y paciencia, comprendiendo cada palabra que yo le decÃa.” This illustrates how specialized support played an important role in helping her heal.
Balli also reflected on societal attitudes toward motherhood and questioned common assumptions about women who are not mothers. Her comments point to broader issues regarding social expectations placed on women.
More than twenty years after the event, Balli continues to share her experience publicly as part of an ongoing process of coming to terms with what happened and raising awareness about how traumatic events can alter life plans.
