The Ministry of Education has conducted a training session for general services staff on hygienic food handling practices. The event took place at Cine Teatro Altos Hornos Zapla and aimed to improve food safety in school cafeterias.
The training was scheduled during an institutional day without student attendance, allowing high participation without disrupting meal services in schools.
This initiative was organized in coordination with the Superior National Bromatological Unit (SUNIBROM) of the Ministry of Health and the Municipality of PalpalĆ”. It is part of interministerial and interinstitutional agreements focused on promoting safe school environments.
The main goal is to ensure responsible food handling throughout all stages, including receiving, storing, preparing, and serving food.
Technical teams are also conducting assessments of school kitchens and staff activities to observe facility conditions and daily practices, with the aim of strengthening safety standards.
According to the Ministry of Education, “this initiative is part of the policy for Protection and Care of Children and Adolescents, and demonstrates a commitment to creating healthy school environments through ongoing staff training.”
After completing a final evaluation, participants will receive a free Food Handler certificate valid for three years for work in educational institutions.
Those working independently can apply for a national card from SUNIBROM by paying the required fee.
