The Ministry of Health of Jujuy is organizing a community event called “Diabetes and Wellness” as part of the “Blue Month” campaign to raise awareness about diabetes. The event will take place on Sunday, November 30, starting at Hospital Snopek in Alto Comedero, San Salvador de Jujuy. Participants are encouraged to wear blue clothing.
According to the Ministry, this initiative aligns with the Strategic Health Plan II, which emphasizes health promotion and prevention. The goal is to encourage healthy habits and physical activity across all age groups while drawing attention to diabetes, one of the most prevalent chronic diseases today.
The walk/run is open to everyone in the community and is being held in collaboration with the Municipality of San Salvador. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at Hospital Snopek, with the start scheduled for 8 a.m.
Families can participate by wearing blue and bringing water bottles for various circuits. The event includes several categories: a 40-meter race for children from age eight; a 60-meter race for children from age twelve; a 2K route with pets; an inclusive 2K; a 4.5K for people aged sixty and above; and a competitive 4.5K.
Organizers note that protective factors like regular exercise and healthy eating are especially beneficial when practiced with family or close social circles.
Free health services will be available during the event, including HIV and blood glucose testing, counseling on diabetes, nutrition, mental health, ophthalmology consultations, and weight and height checks.
Participation is free but requires completing registration details online at https://qrcd.org/9SAJ.
