The Ministry of Health of Jujuy has announced a series of community activities to mark International Women’s Day on March 8. The initiative, called “Salud te acompaña,” is organized through the Health Promotion and Prevention Board.
The ministry emphasized the importance of comprehensive well-being, noting that it depends on multiple factors such as access to information, quality health services, appropriate care, free treatments, mental health support, exercise of rights, and opportunities for both material and symbolic resources. The statement also highlighted the need for equal opportunities in all areas, elimination of violence, and equal participation in public health policy decisions.
Activities will take place at various locations across San Salvador de Jujuy and Yala:
– On Tuesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 5, interventions with the Adolescence Area will be held at traffic lights near Puente Lavalle and Caracol zone as well as bus stops in front of Comercial 1 and the old station from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services provided include information about women’s health checkups, rights, gender perspective education, and commemorative messages.
– On Wednesday, March 4 at Mercado de Concentración y Abasto (Av. Alte. Brown) from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be blood pressure checks, HIV and syphilis testing, dance sessions, workshops, and counseling focused on women’s comprehensive health.
– On Sunday, March 8 during Peña Rosa at Feria del Pan Casero in Yala from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., participants can attend workshops and receive counseling on nutrition, maternity care and dentistry; there will also be health education activities, physical activity sessions and adolescent guidance.
According to the ministry: “Well-being responds to biopsychosocial factors such as access to information; quality health services; proper care; free treatments; addressing mental health; exercising rights; access to material and symbolic resources for a dignified life; equal opportunities in all fields; elimination of all types of violence; and equal participation in public health policy decisions.”
