The Ministry of Human Development announced on Apr. 7 that it is continuing its efforts to improve the well-being and quality of life for older adults who attend its Day Centers.
These initiatives are designed to help older adults maintain their independence and adopt healthy habits in daily life. The ministry aims to encourage participation in activities that foster both physical and emotional health among seniors.
Ana Aristimuño, a professional from the Coordination for Rights Promotion at the Directorate General for Older Adults, said, “the workshop was about self-perception, what physical skills and abilities each person has in order to face daily activities.”
Laura Gerónimo, head of the ‘Virgen del Valle’ Day Center, highlighted the value of these programs: “Promoting these workshops is fundamental for older people because it allows them to incorporate healthy habits into their everyday lives, such as proper ways to sit, walk or move around. It is a very rewarding experience not only for those who attend but also because of the positive impact it generates throughout the community. These opportunities raise awareness about self-care.”
The activities took place at the ‘Virgen del Valle’ Day Center located in Mariano Moreno neighborhood in the capital city. The ministry also extended an invitation for other interested seniors to participate in future events.
