The alert is significant as it affects a wide area and calls for precautionary measures to protect people and property. Residents in both urban and rural areas are advised to pay attention to official updates.
According to the report, regions most at risk include Puna de Cochinoca, Puna de Humahuaca, Puna de Rinconada, Puna de Santa Catalina, Puna de Tilcara, Puna de Tumbaya, Yavi, El Carmen, Ledesma, Palpalá, San Antonio, San Pedro, Santa Bárbara, Valle Grande as well as lowland and mountainous zones of Doctor Manuel Belgrano and other localities. The forecast includes heavy rainfall over short periods of time, occasional hailstorms, frequent lightning activity and wind gusts that may exceed 60 kilometers per hour.
Authorities recommend avoiding outdoor activities during the storms. They also advise against taking shelter under trees or electric poles. Residents are urged not to take out garbage during this period and to clear drains or gutters in advance. Additional advice includes disconnecting household appliances and cutting off electricity supply if water enters homes. People should stay informed through official channels.
The weather service said the alert will continue into Thursday afternoon and evening (April 2), with a focus on mountain regions such as Cordillera de Cochinoca, Cordillera de Rinconada, Cordillera de Santa Catalina and Cordillera de Susques. These areas are also expected to experience adverse conditions so extra caution is requested from those traveling along high-altitude roads or living in remote locations.
