Nittedal municipality in Norway has decided to implement the Lifecare Workforce Planner from Tieto Caretech as its new resource management system. This move aims to address challenges related to efficient use of staff and growing complexity in public sector workforce planning.

Many municipalities across the Nordic region face increasing demands on resources and expertise, while citizen needs are also becoming more complicated. Existing fragmented systems and manual processes often make it difficult for organizations to plan work shifts effectively, leading to time-consuming tasks and a higher risk of errors. Creating schedules that comply with national laws and local agreements is also challenging.

By adopting Lifecare Workforce Planner, Nittedal intends to streamline shift planning, attendance tracking, absence management, and overall workforce oversight within a single platform. The solution is designed to support both employees and managers by offering better control and transparency across municipal services.

A key factor in Nittedal’s decision was the user-friendly portal for employees and managers. The municipality expects this feature will improve efficiency and workflow.

The system ensures that staff schedules follow the Working Environment Act while considering employee preferences for shifts. This approach aims to help managers safeguard employee wellbeing, reduce strain, and boost job satisfaction.

“We look forward to implementing the solution and to our collaboration. For us, it is essential to have a tool that supports integrated workforce planning across municipal services. We believe we have chosen a system that meets our cross-sector needs,” says Tommy Liberg, Head of HR, Digitalisation and Organisational Development at Nittedal municipality.

For Tieto Caretech, working with Nittedal represents an opportunity to assist health- and social care organizations in updating their workforce management practices.

“Effective staffing planning is about giving managers better governance tools and employees greater predictability. Our ambition is to support municipalities and hospitals with solutions that make them better equipped to meet both current and future needs. Nittedal is taking an important step in that direction,” says Vera Kejr, Customer Manager at Tieto Caretech.

With this implementation, Nittedal seeks to demonstrate how digitalization can enable more integrated resource planning across public services now and into the future.
