National deputy Oscar Zago called on March 28 for the resignation of Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni, saying that his presence in government has become a source of instability. Zago, who previously led the official parliamentary bloc, made his remarks during an interview where he addressed recent controversies surrounding Adorni.
The call for resignation comes amid internal disputes and judicial investigations that are reportedly affecting government operations. Zago said these issues are impacting the administration’s credibility and effectiveness.
Zago criticized Adorni’s conduct, stating: “When the mistreatment, arrogance and pedantry are the norm, everything goes wrong. But it is much worse when you are critical of corruption and end up being investigated for the same acts.” He referred to scandals involving private flights to Punta del Este and inconsistencies in Adorni’s financial disclosures.
According to Zago, ongoing power struggles within the government have created a situation where President Javier Milei is “conditioned by internal pressures” that prevent him from removing a key official. He described this as a significant burden on national credibility.
Zago concluded: “You cannot harm a country because you have internal problems due to acts of corruption,” indicating that unity within the ruling bloc has ended and highlighting deep divisions at the highest levels of power.
