Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy defeated Patronato 2-0 at the Estadio 23 de Agosto, remaining at the top of Zone B alongside TristĂ¡n SuĂ¡rez with 15 points after eight matches, according to an April 6 statement. The team, led by coach HernĂ¡n Pellerano, continued its strong home form but acknowledged areas needing improvement following goals from Guillermo Cosaro and Hugo Soria.

The result was important for building confidence, but Pellerano said there is still work to do on the team’s overall play. “We get stronger at home because we have so much quality and looking ahead that will help us when we improve some aspects,” Pellerano said. He admitted that certain parts of their game remain a challenge.

A key moment in the match was the introduction of Gonzalo Villarreal. On this tactical decision, Pellerano said: “It was to counteract Patronato’s aerial play and he did very well because we won all the duels in the air.” Despite this success, he pointed out that balance remains an issue: “We have to start improving when we don’t have possession and if our opponent gets on top of us.”

Pellerano also praised his squad’s depth as crucial in what he described as a “long and complicated” tournament. For him, having substitutes who maintain performance levels is essential: “Every player who comes in feels comfortable and that benefits us. We built a squad so anyone would be ready to step up,” he said.

He concluded by acknowledging supporters’ influence during home games: “The encouragement at Estadio 23 de Agosto ends up being like another player”—a factor he considers fundamental for maintaining momentum when results are needed most.
