The Copa Phygital del NOA will take place in Palpalá on May 9 and 10, bringing together both real-life football and digital competition. The event is set to feature well-known teams as well as public figures such as Benja Calero and Yeyo De Gregorio.
Organizers say the two-day tournament will be held at the Estadio OlĂmpico in Palpalá. The format aims to blend traditional football with gaming, reflecting a trend that is gaining momentum globally. The event is organized by Jujuy Phygital along with the AsociaciĂłn de Deportes ElectrĂłnicos y Videojuegos de Argentina (DEVA), seeking to bring together sports and gaming communities.
According to organizers, the goal is for participants and spectators alike to experience both on-field action and digital play for a more complete event. Tickets are available through Ticket Pass on its official website.
Influencer Benja Calero and actor-host Yeyo De Gregorio are expected to participate as part of invited teams, aiming to add entertainment value alongside matches. Teams such as DOU FC and Actores FC will compete against two local squads from Jujuy selected through a prior qualifying round, giving local talent an opportunity to face national figures.
Phygital is described by organizers as a hybrid discipline that merges athletic performance with digital technology for new forms of competition. It involves integrating physical effort in real environments with performance in simulators or video games (eSports), combining results from both fields to determine winners.
The concept also includes enhancing spectator experiences using real-time data layers like augmented reality, removing barriers between athletes, fans, and technology infrastructure for a fully connected sports ecosystem.
