Police detained a man with a history of criminal offenses in San Pedro de Jujuy on April 8, after he was found carrying items believed to have been stolen from a vehicle. The arrest took place during the early morning hours while officers from the Infantry Corps were conducting preventive patrols in the 4 de Diciembre neighborhood.
Authorities said that the suspect attempted to hide inside a house upon noticing the police presence. When questioned about several automobile tools he was carrying, the man claimed he intended to return them to the homeowner. However, this explanation was quickly disproven when officers spoke with the resident, who denied knowing either the suspect or anything about the tools.
A check with the Center for Criminal Information and Analysis revealed that the individual had an extensive criminal background. According to information from the Federal Police Communications System, he was subject to active restraining orders and had a suspended sentence.
Due to his violation of these restrictions and his suspected involvement in theft, police transferred him to their station where he remains at judicial disposal.
The incident highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address property crimes and enforce existing court orders.
