Police in the Province of Jujuy announced on April 6 that an 11-year-old boy who had gone missing in the rural area of Rachaite, located in the Puna region, was found safe and unharmed.
The incident drew concern due to the challenging environment where the child disappeared. Authorities said that after receiving an alert near midnight, special forces patrols from both CEOP (Special Operations Command) and GOF (Border Operations Group) were quickly deployed from their base at Mina Pirquitas to begin a search operation.
Search efforts took place under harsh conditions marked by low temperatures, complete darkness, and difficult terrain. Police used night vision equipment and specialized communication tools to cover more than ten kilometers across hills and ranches during their search.
According to police reports, personnel from CEOP located the boy around 11:20 a.m. near a ranch east of the initial search area. Officials said he had become disoriented while walking but was found unharmed.
After being assisted by rescuers, he was reunited with his family at a designated meeting point. Authorities confirmed that he was in good health following his ordeal.
