A puma cub that survived a road accident near Villa La Angostura is now being cared for by a domestic cat, according to an April 5 report. The incident occurred at the intersection of routes 40 and 237, an area known for its wildlife.
The young animal was the only survivor after a vehicle struck and killed its mother and three siblings. The driver left the scene. A passing family found the injured cub and took it to receive urgent veterinary care.
Veterinarians at Centro Médico Veterinario Angostura are monitoring the cub closely. They say its condition remains delicate because it was born prematurely, but it is showing signs of improvement.
During recovery, staff noticed that a domestic cat at the clinic began interacting with the puma cub. This relationship has provided warmth and comfort, which veterinarians say is crucial during this early stage of development. Professionals involved in its care said this companionship has helped stabilize the animal and that it continues to respond well to treatment.
Looking ahead, specialists are considering transferring the puma cub to a sanctuary or rescue center where it can continue growing under supervision since reintroduction into its natural habitat will not be possible.
