On Tuesday, December 2, the Escuela Primaria Latinoamérica N° 386 in the El Milagro neighborhood of Puesto Viejo will host a special puppet theater performance for children. The event will feature the play “La Niña del Cerro” and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. Admission is free.
The initiative is part of a program by the Ministerio de Cultura y Turismo aimed at introducing children to theater through puppetry. The performance incorporates themes of tradition, mountains, and mystery that are integral to local community identity.
According to organizers, “This proposal, framed within the program of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, seeks to bring theatrical language closer through the magic of puppets, those characters that come to life in the hands of artists and capture the imagination of those who watch them. The play invites children to immerse themselves in a narrative that weaves together tradition, mountain, and mystery—elements that are part of our communities’ identity.”
The activity is also intended to strengthen connections between schools and artistic expression. Organizers state: “This function is part of a broader strategy that seeks to strengthen ties between the educational community and artistic expressions. It is about bringing art to spaces where our children live, showing that culture is not a privilege but a right that should be accessible to everyone. Puppet theater, in particular, serves as a privileged bridge between imagination and reality, between what we see and what we dream.”
The event follows the institutional motto “Gobierno de cerca de la gente,” which emphasizes making cultural activities available throughout Jujuy province. Organizers add: “This initiative takes place under the institutional slogan ‘Government close to the people,’ aiming to deploy cultural activities throughout the provincial territory so that every corner of Jujuy—in every school and every neighborhood—has space for creation, wonder, and beauty. Puesto Viejo will receive this proposal as part of a deeper commitment: weaving culture with our communities and recognizing in childhoods the bearers of the future we imagine.”
