Purmamarca will host a special cultural event on April 5 as the Dúo Sivila y Amigos performs at the Santa Rosa de Lima Church, part of the Capillas Musicales series organized by the Secretariat of Culture of Jujuy.

The concert is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and marks the close of Holy Week in the region. The performance aims to bring together faith and local traditions, featuring music rooted in Andean culture and works by composers from Jujuy. Instruments such as sikus, quena, quenacho, charango, guitar, double bass, and percussion will be used during the event.

Organizers say that this initiative seeks to connect “the meaning of Easter (rebirth and light) with memory and landscape of Quebrada,” offering a space for reflection and celebration open to both residents and tourists. Admission is free with support from the Municipality of Purmamarca.

The Capillas Musicales cycle began in January 2025 as a provincial program designed to highlight the cultural heritage found in churches across Jujuy. Since its launch, more than 50 concerts have taken place throughout all four regions of the province.

The name “Capillas Musicales” refers to historical ensembles that performed significant works in convents and monasteries under guidance from a Maestro de Capilla.

This upcoming event continues efforts to promote both academic and popular music while fostering appreciation for local history.
