The Superior Provincial Bromatological Unit (SUNIBROM), under the Ministry of Health of Jujuy, has announced a nationwide recall of certain infant formula products. The affected products are Nestlé Nan Optipro 1 C/Hmo powdered infant formula and Nestlé Alfamino specialized powdered food for infants.
The recalled batches include both domestically produced formulas from Santa Fe province and imported products from Switzerland. The specific batches affected are:
For Nestlé Nan Optipro 1 C/HMO in 400g packaging: lots 517628872A (expiring 31/12/2026), 524128872A (expiring 28/2/2027), and 524728872A (expiring 31/3/2027).
For the same product in 800g packaging: lots 517628872A (expiring 31/12/2026), 522828872A, and 524128872A (both expiring 28/2/2027), as well as lots 528928872A, 528928872B, and 529028872A (all expiring between April and May of 2027), among others.
The imported product is Nestlé Alfamino in a 400g presentation, lot number 51690017Y1 with an expiration date of June 30, 2027.
According to SUNIBROM, “the withdrawal of this product from the market was ordered by the agency following a resolution by the National Food Institute (INAL), which is part of the National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Technologies (ANMAT), due to the presence of Cereulide produced by the microorganism Bacillus cereus in one of the raw materials used for manufacturing these batches. It should be noted that ingestion of this product can cause serious health damage.”
Consumers are advised not to purchase or consume these products and to remove them immediately from supermarkets and stores.
