Supervisors from the northwest region of Argentina gathered in Jujuy on November 4 for a regional meeting focused on primary education. The event, held at the Ministry Complex, was organized by the National Education Secretariat and the Ministry of Education of Jujuy Province. Representatives from Salta, Formosa, Catamarca, Tucumán, and Jujuy attended to share experiences and strategies related to literacy as a core element of education.
National officials present included Martín Müller, executive director of the National Institute for Teacher Training (INFOD); Silvina del Pópolo, director of the Federal Literacy Network; Florencia Sourrouille, national director of Strategic Data Analysis and Educational Information Dissemination; and Alonso Sánchez, World Bank manager for Argentina.
During the opening ceremony, Natalia García Goyena, Secretary of Strategic Planning for Jujuy Province, conveyed greetings from Minister Miriam Serrano and highlighted her role in bringing the event to Jujuy: “She was a great driving force behind making this happen. We are proud to welcome you to our land, which we feel and show with pride because our cultural capital is also part of what happens within our schools.”
García Goyena also emphasized collaboration between national and provincial authorities: “The school needs everyone’s commitment: a social network that supports it, accompanies it and drives it forward. This meeting is an example of that educational fabric woven day by day among national teams, provincial teams and supervisors in the field.”
In the morning session, experts Rosana Sampedro and Silvina del Pópolo delivered lectures titled “Supervision in Motion: Territorial Literacy Cartographies” and “Managing with Purpose: The Strategic Value of Information.”
The program was scheduled to continue in the afternoon with delegations visiting local educational institutions involved in the Alfa en Red group to observe first-hand how literacy programs are implemented in Jujuy.
Local educational authorities participating included Alicia Zamora (Secretary of Educational Management), Natalia García Goyena (Secretary of Strategic Planning), Julio Alarcón (Secretary of Socio-Educational Policies), as well as Plan de Alfabetización coordinators Alejandra Maccagno and Laura Molina.
