Ricardo Villada announced on Apr. 10 that he has formally assumed the role of judicial interventor for the Partido Justicialista (PJ) in Jujuy, following his presentation before federal electoral judge Esteban Hansen.
Villada said his main goal is to restore democratic order within the party and ensure respect for its members. He described the intervention as a necessary step when a political party cannot resolve internal issues through regular channels, emphasizing that this process is meant to benefit all affiliates.
“As a man of democracy and convinced of the importance of political parties, I have accepted the challenge of judicial intervention; whose objective will be none other than to adopt measures that lead to its democratic regularization,” Villada said in an official statement.
He committed during his meeting with Judge Hansen to provide regular updates on progress and assured that all internal factions would be included in efforts toward normalization. “Carrying it out responsibly is an act of respect towards affiliates,” he added.
Addressing ongoing disputes within the local PJ, Villada stated: “I am not here to favor any faction or pass judgment on what has happened. My only function is to guarantee that affiliates can elect their authorities under legal conditions.” He also spoke about his personal ties with Jujuy but clarified these would not influence his actions: “Jujuy is a province I care about and where I have friends and family. That does not condition me; it obliges me to act with greater rigor.”
Villada concluded by reaffirming his aim: “The objective is one: leave PJ Jujuy with its elected authorities, its house in order, and fully functioning. Affiliates deserve to choose.”
