The San Francisco de Asís Awards will take place on April 16 at the Centro Cultural Éxodo Jujeño, according to an announcement made on April 7. Municipal authorities and the organizing committee are finalizing plans for this traditional event, which is now in its 29th year.
The awards are significant as they recognize achievements in sports across the province. Sandra Batistella, Undersecretary of Human Development, said, “We were in a meeting outlining everything that will be part of the San Francisco de Asís Awards, which are about to take place.” She added, “Another year we will accompany the delivery of these awards, where sport is recognized at a provincial level.”
Batistella emphasized that this is a longstanding event: “It has been held for 29 years, always directed by Professor Benicio Ruiz, who is currently in charge of sports in Alto Comedero.” She noted that athletes from all over the province and from various levels and disciplines will be honored. The ceremony is scheduled for April 16 at 6 p.m.
Benicio Ruiz, member of the organizing committee and director of Sports for Alto Comedero district, thanked both municipal support and Mayor Raúl ‘Chuli’ Jorge. “He has always been with the San Francisco Awards—not only collaborating with recognitions but also being part of this great provincial sports celebration,” Ruiz said.
Ruiz also pointed out joint efforts among different municipal departments to organize the event: “We are working with a team from City Hall—with officials from different secretariats and with Sandra Batistella leading—to make this not only a celebration for nominees but for all Jujuy’s sporting families.” He concluded by noting that a specialized jury will select winners: “It will be a difficult decision to choose recipients of the San Francisco de Oro—both in federated and social fields—as well as other special mentions across various disciplines.”
This annual recognition continues to highlight athletic talent throughout Jujuy Province while bringing together community members involved in local sports.
