The Municipality of San Pedro de Jujuy announced on March 30 that this week’s spay and neuter services will be reserved exclusively for animals rescued by local protection organizations. The measure is part of a coordinated effort with these groups, according to municipal officials.
Rubén Bonomo, head of the Directorate of Health Control, Pests and Zoonoses, said the decision follows a request from Mayor Julio Bravo. “The castrations continue, they are not suspended. The only difference is that this week we will not give appointments to the public,” Bonomo said.
Officials asked residents not to come in person to request appointments during these days since the team will work only with rescued animals. Public service is expected to resume after Easter Week under the usual system of ten daily appointments for city residents.
In addition, the municipality continues its free rabies vaccination program, which takes place door-to-door in different neighborhoods. Currently, operations are underway in Horacio Guzmán sector but are suspended on rainy days.
Authorities reminded residents that rabies vaccination is mandatory by law and can be done at Zoonosis offices or private veterinary clinics to prevent diseases and avoid penalties.
