The San Roque Hospital has been recognized with the 2025 Gold Award by the Angels Initiative through the World Stroke Organization (WSO) for its quality of care for stroke patients, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Health of Jujuy.
San Roque Hospital serves as a provincial stroke center and plays a central role in Jujuy’s healthcare network. Its interdisciplinary team includes doctors, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists, psychologists, and social workers. The hospital follows protocols that ensure quick diagnosis and treatment as part of the province’s Strategic Health Plan II.
Care is provided according to the Provincial Protocol for Stroke Patient Management. This protocol standardizes diagnostic, treatment, and referral procedures across all public health centers in Jujuy. Each hospital or center trained to perform thrombolysis has a specific roadmap for treating suspected stroke cases. This approach ensures consistent and coordinated care throughout the region.
The Provincial Stroke Network works alongside the Provincial Directorate of Hospitals and SAME 107 emergency service to provide immediate response when a stroke is suspected. People showing symptoms are instructed to call 107 so prenotification can be activated; this allows medical teams to prepare ahead of patient arrival, reducing critical time to diagnosis and treatment.
“In 2024, the Angels Initiative distinguished San Roque Hospital with the Diamond Award and SAME 107 with the Platinum Award, recognizing their performance in responding to strokes through global data tracking on response times,” stated officials.
