Thousands of pilgrims accompanied the Virgin of Punta Corral as she was brought down to Tumbaya on March 29, marking the celebration of Palm Sunday.

The event drew large crowds who gathered from early in the day along the paths of Quebrada, joining in a tradition that blends faith and local customs. The procession was led by nearly 80 sikuri bands, whose music set the tone for what is considered one of the most moving scenes in this religious festival.

As the image known as “Mamita del Cerro” entered Tumbaya, a multitude awaited with handkerchiefs, flowers, and prayers. The central mass for Palm Sunday was held in town, officially starting Holy Week activities in the province.

The pilgrimage will continue over the coming days with a wide range of religious events planned throughout the province. Organizers say these traditions bring together devotees from across the region each year to renew their faith during this emblematic occasion.
