The town of Tilcara is preparing to host the 21st edition of the Festival del Niño Rural, an event that brings together students from rural schools in the Valles Altos region for a day focused on culture and education. The festival will take place at the Tinglado Municipal on Tuesday, November 25, starting at 3 p.m.
The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the Provincial Secretariat of Culture. Present at the event were Aylen López, coordinator of Cultural Rights; Sonia Pérez, mayor of Tilcara; and Aylen Méndez, director of Culture and Education for the municipality.
During her remarks, Mayor Pérez emphasized that this celebration marks its 21st year and underlined the municipality’s commitment to children in rural areas. “This celebration reaches its 21st edition and reaffirms the municipality’s commitment to rural childhoods,” said Pérez. She explained that seven schools operating under a “20 by 10” model are participating in this year’s event. To ensure their attendance, transportation for delegations began on Sunday, November 23.
The program continued on Monday with visits to San Salvador de Jujuy. Activities included tours of local landmarks such as the Cabildo and Casa de Gobierno, as well as an event with sponsors of rural schools in Villa Jardín de Reyes. After these activities, delegations returned to Tilcara to complete additional scheduled events.
On Tuesday afternoon, students, teachers, and families will participate in both the festival itself and an educational exhibition. Faty Sosa is also set to perform music during the gathering.
Organizers say that over more than two decades, the Festival del Niño Rural has fostered connections among educational communities in rural areas while highlighting their work.
