A meeting of the Provincial Tourism Council (COPROTUR) took place in the city of Carmen, focusing on the Valles Region. The event included representatives from all municipalities in the region and was led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The mayor of San Antonio hosted the gathering.
The meeting addressed various topics related to tourism development in the area. Diego Valdecantos, Secretary of Tourism for Jujuy, stated: “It has been a very good year for the region, where many activities have taken place, not only festivals and cultural events but also sports events that have greatly developed and promoted tourism here in the Valles region.”
One key topic discussed was the wine route. Valdecantos emphasized: “The work being done is very important and drives the economy along the wine route, in which the Valles specifically have their own wine route.” He added: “There has been strong collaboration with municipalities to continue developing it so we can keep welcoming tourists who are very interested in wine tourism, gastronomy, and health.”
During the session, participants validated a Strategic Tourism Plan, reviewed each municipality’s scoring system, and identified priority investment needs. Monterrico received recognition as a Tourist Municipality, while other municipalities renewed this status.
COPROTUR facilitates exchange among tourism stakeholders to collaborate on different promotion strategies. This year’s meetings will continue in other provincial regions.
