Argentina saw strong tourism activity during Easter week, with both traditional and emerging destinations drawing visitors, according to an April 9 announcement. Major tourist centers such as Bariloche, Puerto IguazĂș, Salta, Mendoza, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires City, and Villa Elisa in Entre RĂos experienced high visitor numbers. The northern provinces of Jujuy, TucumĂĄn, and Salta reported especially robust movement due to religious and cultural events.
Nature-focused destinations also attracted many travelers. In Misiones province, the IguazĂș Falls saw high demand. The NeuquĂ©n mountain regionâincluding JunĂn de los Andes and San MartĂn de los Andesâwas popular among those seeking outdoor experiences. RĂo Negro offered a mix of sea, valley, and mountain attractions while Tandil in Buenos Aires province was another favored spot.
Emerging locations such as Catamarca and La Rioja joined smaller towns across the country in attracting domestic tourists looking for quieter and more affordable options. These trends reflect a diversification of tourism offerings throughout Argentina.
Tourism officials said there was increased collaboration between public institutions and private businesses this year. Provinces aimed to combine tradition with culture, gastronomy with natureâbroadening choices beyond classic tourist spots.
So far this year there have been three long weekends when 6,874,256 tourists traveled around the country spending a total of $2.047 trillion pesos.
