The Secretariat of Sports, part of the Ministry of Government, Justice, Human Rights and Labor, announced on April 10 that more than 150 athletes will participate in the Triathlon Jujuy challenge this Sunday at La Ciénaga dam.
The event is promoted by Governor Carlos Sadir and will feature participants from both Jujuy and the neighboring province of Salta. Competitors will race in two categories: super sprint swim and sprint, with options for individual or relay teams.
Organizers said the closed park area for athletes will open at 7 a.m., followed by a technical briefing at 8 a.m. The first group of competitors will start at 8:15 a.m., with the second group beginning at 9 a.m. The competition is expected to conclude around 11:30 a.m., after which awards will be given to top performers in each distance and category for both women and men.
Luis Calvetti, Secretary of Sports, said, “We continue with public sports policies implemented by Governor Carlos Sadir and with the support of Minister Normando Álvarez García, betting on the growth of triathlon in the province so that every athlete from Jujuy can compete, grow and represent Jujuy with pride.”
Calvetti also highlighted that hosting this event gives local enthusiasts an opportunity to compete in an ideal setting like La Ciénaga dam. He said coordination among various government departments—including Same emergency services, Police, Firefighters, El Carmen Municipality and the Sustainable Development Agency for Dams—ensures all logistical needs are met for successful execution.
