The eighth edition of VIVA FOTO FEST, a major photography festival in northern Argentina, will be officially launched this Thursday at Casa Silvetti in Purmamarca. The event marks the festival’s move from its previous location in Cafayate to the Quebrada de Humahuaca region.

Founded in 2018, VIVA FOTO FEST has become a significant gathering for both professional and amateur photographers. The festival attracts between 60 and 80 participants each year and covers a range of photographic disciplines, including landscape, astrophotography, photojournalism, and drone photography.

This year’s festival is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 27 at La Comarca Hotel. It will feature three days of activities such as photo outings, keynote talks, and specialized workshops.

Organizers describe the move to Purmamarca as a strategic decision aimed at establishing the Quebrada de Humahuaca as a key destination for photography. They say that each participant will act as a visual ambassador for the area by sharing their work on social media and through specialized publications.

“The launch this Thursday will be the first official engagement between the event and the local community, marking the start of a new chapter for Argentine photography,” organizers stated.

The event highlights growing interest in photographic tourism worldwide and aims to increase visibility for Jujuy Province within South America’s network of notable photography destinations.
