More than 20 audiovisual projects from various regions of Jujuy took part in the “Jujuy en verano es Magia Pura” contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Jujuy with support from the Institute of Audiovisual Arts of Jujuy (IAAJ). The competition aimed to challenge the perception that summer in Jujuy is defined only by extreme heat. Participants were encouraged to showcase, through short films, the climatic, scenic, and cultural diversity across different areas—from Yungas to Puna—and highlight that Jujuy can be enjoyed year-round.
The three winning ideas that will move forward to production are:
– Carlos Velásquez – Alto Verano
– Alejo Marín – Verano en altura
– Julia Carrizo – En Jujuy el verano no se mide grados se mide en magia
Minister of Culture and Tourism Federico Posadas said: “We have finished evaluating the 20 projects for the summer campaign; the idea was to work on demystifying Jujuy as a hot destination in summer. That’s why we called all audiovisual producers, with 20 submissions—a successful call. In this context, three were selected in a process certified by the Government Notary.”
He added: “It is the first time an open and participatory event has been held, characterized by all participants being from Jujuy, boosting our province’s talent.”
The jury for the contest included Minister Federico Posadas; Patricio Artero, President of IAAJ; Melina Ainstein, Director of Tourism Promotion; Belén Castro, Director of Press and Institutional Relations; and Gisela Arias, Provincial Director of Culture.
Minister Posadas further stated: “Proud of the audiovisual ecosystem we are building at the Ministry—which includes support from Film Commission, internal teams at the Ministry, and of course IAAJ led by Patricio Artero—we invite all people from Jujuy to become tourism ambassadors for our Province by sharing these productions which we are sure will be a national success.”
Secretary of Tourism Diego Valdecantos commented: “This contest reflects the talent of our creators and the potential of Jujuy as an audiovisual stage and year-round tourist destination.”
The Ministry highlighted participants’ creativity, commitment, and local perspective as factors strengthening audiovisual identity and promoting tourism in the province.
