A workshop on the prevention of gender-based violence was held for women from the 8 de Marzo neighborhood in Alto Comedero, according to a March 28 announcement. The event was organized by the Provincial Council of Women, Gender Equality, and Respect for Diversity as part of activities scheduled during Women’s Month.
The workshop focused on recognizing signs of violence and aimed to help participants identify risk situations, promote healthy relationships, and strengthen access to information as a tool for preventing and eradicating gender-based violence.
Participants learned about different types and forms of gender-based violence, including physical, psychological, and economic abuse. The importance of recognizing warning signs such as excessive control, isolation, devaluation, or behavioral changes was discussed. Early detection and intervention were highlighted as crucial steps that can make a significant difference in protecting individuals’ lives.
Information was also provided about the support available at the 19 Centers for Attention to Women in Situations of Violence. Additionally, attendees were informed about a free provincial hotline (0 800 888 4363), which operates confidentially around the clock every day of the year for emergencies or guidance regarding vulnerable situations affecting women or people from sexual diversity groups.
The workshop was coordinated jointly with Fundación Red ECOS Vecinales de San Salvador de Jujuy. Organizers thanked Alicia Quispe, general coordinator of Fundación Red ECOS Vecinales, for her efforts in bringing this approach into local neighborhoods through community work that promotes safer and more equal environments.
Victoria Luna from the Secretariat for Equity, Diversity and Promotion of Rights led this activity.
