YPF, the state-controlled oil company in Argentina, announced through its official Twitter account a significant development regarding its operations in Chubut province. The company’s board has decided to transfer the entirety of its conventional concession at Manantiales Behr to PECOM Servicios Energía S.A.U., including involvement from its affiliate San Benito Upstream S.A.U.

The following tweet from the same day elaborated on the rationale behind this decision: “El manejo activo del portafolio es parte de nuestro Plan 4×4 y nos permite reasignar capital a Vaca Muerta para impulsar más rentabilidad, producción no convencional y habilitar exportaciones por 30.000 millones de dólares anuales hacia 2031.”

This move aligns with YPF’s broader strategy to optimize its asset portfolio and focus investments on unconventional production areas such as Vaca Muerta. By reallocating resources from mature conventional fields like Manantiales Behr to projects with higher growth potential, YPF aims to enhance profitability and significantly boost exports by the end of the decade.
