YPF, Argentina’s state-controlled energy company, shared updates on its operations and technological advancements in a series of posts on its official Twitter account in December 2025.
On December 17, YPF highlighted the significance of the Vaca Muerta shale formation for Argentina’s energy future. The company stated, “Te invitamos a conocer Vaca Muerta, donde se encuentran los prĂ³ximos 150 años de energĂa, y que gracias al trabajo de YPF y de la industria, va en camino a generar mĂ¡s de 30.000 millones de USD en exportaciones para el paĂs. Vaca Muerta. Potencia Argentina.” (December 17, 2025).
The following day, YPF announced an innovation at its Plaza Huincul Industrial Complex. According to the company’s post from December 18: “Inauguramos la primera sala integrada con IA avanzada en el Complejo Industrial Plaza Huincul. Incorpora el Real Time Intelligence Center y la sala de control para operar el complejo en tiempo real, las 24 horas, los 365 dĂas del año. MĂ¡s infohttps://t.co/GqymtcooDF https://t.co/jlDdeZ8oqa”. In another message posted at the same time, YPF described the use of artificial intelligence in this facility: “Esta sala tiene un enfoque disruptivo de IA, con cinco agentes entrenados para asistir a los operadores, responder consultas tĂ©cnicas y anticipar desvĂos, acelerando la toma de decisiones y asegurando eficiencia.” (December 18, 2025).
Vaca Muerta is one of the largest shale oil and gas reserves globally and has become central to Argentina’s strategy for increasing energy exports and achieving greater energy independence.
These announcements reflect ongoing efforts by YPF to modernize operations and leverage new technologies as part of Argentina’s broader push to expand its energy sector.
